Sample Work | Self-Initiated Project
This sample demonstrates how I approach structured online research, competitor analysis, source validation, information organization, and evidence-based reporting.
I created a research workbook comparing five established online scheduling platforms using a consistent research framework. The project moves from raw source collection through comparison, factual findings, pattern identification, neutral implications, claim verification, and final reporting.
The emphasis was on creating research that is traceable and usable rather than simply collecting information from competitor websites.
Northstar Digital is a fictional small software company exploring a potential online appointment-scheduling product for freelancers, consultants, tutors, coaches, independent service providers, and small service-based teams.
Before making further product-planning decisions, the company needs a structured understanding of the existing scheduling market.
The scenario, company, and proposed product were created solely for this self-initiated portfolio project.
The objective was to research and compare five scheduling platforms:
The analysis examined product positioning, target users, free and paid plan structures, core scheduling capabilities, team functionality, customization, notifications, integrations, payment-related functionality, and notable differences.
The project also examined recurring reviewer-reported strengths, limitations, and concerns while keeping subjective user observations separate from verified product facts.
The goal was not to select a “best” competitor, but to organize reliable evidence, identify similarities and differences, recognize broader market patterns, and produce a traceable research report.
